Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

  • Responsible for defining a holistic supplier strategy and classification with strong cooperation with Supplier Quality and Supply Chain Management.
  • Responsible to screen the market to identify suppliers and demands for the future and to identify development partners under guidance.
  • Checks plausibility of regular reports as well as assuring Data accuracy and clean-up.
  • Cross functional collaboration to work on process improvements and to create and to update documentation.
  • Shaping procurement 4.0 together – Digitalization and automation of procurement processes
  • Leads quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers, including review of financial, quality, and delivery performance targets.
  • Drives cost reductions through annual negotiations to meet annual budget objective
  • Responsible to develop saving plans for the assigned suppliers and commodities to reach the saving target.
  • Ensures compliance with the global sourcing process and policies for all activities under responsibility
  • Accountable for SAP data maintenance.
  • Responsible to align required capacities with suppliers including end of life strategy.
  • Responsible to solve contractual issues with suppliers.
  • Responsible to negotiate contracts with suppliers.



  • Bachelor degree or higher in Economics/Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • 2 years experience in procurement/ trading / sales
  • Experience in purchasing metals or a background in a metal environment (raw material, semi-finished product or scrap industry) would be a plus
  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Advanced ability in analytical and strategic thinking
  • Create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans, broad knowledge of strategies and tactics of the marketplace, knows trends
  • Proven track record in Negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of regional and global supplier base for non-ferrous, ferrous or precious metals would be a plus
  • Basic knowledge of global metal exchange markets and hedging instruments would be a plus
  • Ability to work in matrix environment with multi-cultural team
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer focus and continues improvement attitude
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, basic knowledge of Alteryx would be considered as a plus
  • Fluent English at negotiation level, local language is a plus
