Contract Analyst, Commercial Operations (m/w/d)

I.  Position Overview: 

The Contract Analyst, Commercial Operations is responsible for supporting the Commercial Operations and Business Development teams by providing commercial management of existing customer products and representing Site Operations business interests during new customer onboarding and solving Client disputes relating to existing products.  The position holder will partner with Business Development, Project Management, Legal, R+D, Supply Chain, Site Operations and the wider Commercial Operations teams to successfully deliver solutions for Catalent’s customers and drive value for the respective Site and Business Unit assets and capabilities. 

Responsibilities for the position include managing the signature process/execution of contracts and ensuring timely update and tracking of the relevant contract contents in the relevant Contract Database. The Contract Analyst will ensure relevant Site Functions and Business Development are informed about actions to be taken and will be responsible for initiating activities.

Additionally, the position includes the support of the Quoting process for Commercial and Development Pricing (going forward) of New Products in all Lines of Business (LOB), and the regular pricing update to ensure COGs (Development and Commercial) are accurate, comprehensive and provided in a timely manner to the Business Development and/or Proposal Writing team (once implemented). The position will back up the Pricing and Quotation Coordinator in case of absence. Reports to Director level Commercial Operations leadership.


II.  Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

Contracting:

  • Responsible for the administration and management of SOT related contracts for Trade customers of Eberbach, Aprilia and Beinheim such as, but not limited to Supply Agreements, signed Quotations related to commercial pricing as well as signed Quotations related to development activities.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and ensuring regular tracking of a database with contractual requirements per customer, product and site.
  • Monitor and report on all contract related details such as forecasting, price adjustment dates, purchase order placement, on-time payment, annual minimum order quantities, royalties, milestone payments and other fees and terms as applicable and initiate necessary actions with the relevant Site Functions.
  • Responsible for the compiling and sharing of Contract Summaries/ Fact Sheets for the SLT once contracts are signed.
  • Manage and control the contract signing process to ensure full visibility.
  • Responsible for filing signed contracts and quotes ensuring completeness and accuracy.


Additional tasks include the support of the Pricing and Quotations Coordinator and the Site Functions. These tasks include, but are not limited to:


Quoting and Pricing:

  • Support the team and work closely with the Site Functions in developing pricing catalogues for standard activities (i.e. development, formulation adjustment, analytics, packaging, regulatory support)
  • Ensure the New Product Data Sheets (NPDs) are routed through the organization in a timely manner, clarifying open issues with Business Development and the involved site functions (i.e. R+D, Procurement, Finance)
  • Lead, track and ensure follow up of open actions related to the weekly Quoting meetings with Business Development and internal Site Functions (EBE).
  • Work with Site Operations and Finance teams to routinely evaluate cost vs price models and discuss opportunities for improvements. 

Additional tasks:

  • Support the preparation of  Site Op Mechs slides, relevant to Commercial Operations
  • Work on Business Procedures (Focus on Contract Management) to ensure harmonized processes across the organization.
  • Participation in and management of continuous improvement projects related to contract management,  quotations and pricing.
  • Support Supply Chain and Customer Care Takers/Customer Service in the planning and hosting of Client meetings on site as needed (including organization and presentations)
  • Additional tasks might be assigned to meet business needs.


III.  Typical Position Requirements:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant science/ engineering discipline or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, medical device or food manufacturing, quality, technical project management, business management and/or business development
  • Thorough understanding of the Pharmaceutical Industry including drug product/or consumer product development, analytical research and development, project scale-up, product manufacturing, quality, validations, and regulatory
  • Analytical, financial skills, IT Skills, business acumen
  • Customer services skills and professional behavior
  • Prior direct contract negotiation experience preferred
  • Fluent in German and English, additionally French would be an advantage

Technical Requirements:

  • Foundational technical knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Good business acumen and understanding of Catalent systems and manufacturing processes
  • Foundational technical knowledge in common office applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents, proposals and other technical documents
  • Organized and detail orientated with ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to work under time pressure

Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel may be required (10-15%).
