Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Reporting to the VP Engineering Global Automotive and sitting in our plant based in Speyer, the Director Electronics Engineering is responsible for all topics related to the development and implementation of customer focused Electronics engineering strategies and objectives for Global Automotive.


Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Establish a direction for the Auto electronics engineering team consistent with the business objectives
  • Establish technical support and electronic design goals across all regions
  • Build a global team capable of executing a credible and respected engineered electronics support for the product introduction strategy
  • Coach, mentor and develop the electronic engineering team by fostering an environment of continuous learning, and encouraging global collaboration in a geographically and culturally dispersed organization with a strong view on continuous improvement
  • Lead the global electronics engineering team to provide technical support to S&M, Product Management and other engineering groups with new, competitive development concepts
  • Oversee the new product development pipeline to be supported by electronics engineering and deliver a product & technology roadmap for Auto electronics encompassing all product lines. Particularly with view on antennas, sensors and battery management components like charger inlets, battery disconnect units, cell2cell – and module2module connectivity.
  • Interact with procurement and operations globally to ensure an appropriate “make vs buy” strategy and execution to deliver superior customer satisfaction (internal customers and external customers)
  • Ensure flawless launch of current and future development projects
  • Govern platform approach (sub - system), hardware& software reusable building blocks, components
  • Conduct /support risk analysis including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure in Time (FIT), SW/HW/Systems FMEA




  • B.S. degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Physics
  • 10 years’ experience in embedded HW&SW development and leadership of engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in industrialization of electronic modules, components, subsystems for vehicles in the automotive industry
  • Excellent knowledge in functional safety and performance standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508, IEC61850, A-SPICE, CMMI, model-based development process
  • Deep understanding of the EEE-Architecture of modern cars (ICE, HEV, PHEV, BEV)
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle network communication (LIN, CAN, ETHERNET, MOST)
  • Deep knowledge of C/C++ and understanding of AUTOSAR architecture, HIS
  • Experienced in usage of simulation tools like Matlab-Simulink
  • Familiar with requirements/configuration management as DOORS, POLARION, GIT, SVN or others
  • Language: English fluent
  • Flexibility:  Travel globally when required
